the cat kidney (ckd) care log

Kidney disease in a cat changes slowly, and small changes are easy to miss. This log puts appetite, drinking, litter box, weight and medicines on paper, so you and your vet see the trend at each visit. It records. Your vet decides the stage, the food and every medicine.

the diary

one line a day.

The 2026 iCatCare guidelines on kidney disease in cats say that keeping a diary helps you feel informed and helps you and the clinic talk to each other. The daily log gives you a short row for appetite, drinking, litter box, vomiting, energy and medicines.

weight tells the story.

In a study of more than 500 cats, the median weight loss was 8.9% in the 12 months before kidney disease was diagnosed, and it began 3 years earlier. The guidelines name home weight checks as a way to take part. Write each number here, and ask your vet how to weigh your cat at home.

good questions.

What do I track for a cat with kidney disease?

Your vet decides what is right for your cat. The log gives rows for appetite, drinking, litter box, vomiting, energy, medicines given and weight, plus a weekly check. The 2026 iCatCare guidelines suggest home weight checks and a diary as ways for caregivers to take part.

Why does weight matter so much?

In a study of over 500 cats, the median loss was 8.9% of body weight in the 12 months before kidney disease was diagnosed. The loss began 3 years earlier and sped up after diagnosis. The guidelines say unintended weight loss should be reported to your vet.

Does the log tell me what to feed or give?

No. It gives no diet, fluid amount, medicine or dose. Your vet decides the stage, the food and every medicine. The log records what you give and what you see, and prompts you to take it to your vet.

My cat's appetite goes up and down. Is that normal?

The guidelines say appetite often goes up and down in cats with kidney disease. Write it each day. A written record shows your vet the trend, and your vet decides what it means.

Is it for a certain stage?

No. Your vet gives the stage, and the health record page has a place to write it in the vet's own words. The log works for any cat with kidney disease, and for a cat your vet is watching.

How do I get the log after I pay?

Wix, our checkout provider, emails you a download link as soon as your payment goes through. The link works for 30 days. Download the ZIP file and save it. All sales are final; if your file is broken or never arrives, we fix it fast.
